Many
media pros are asked to produce pro bono work now and then. But
GlobalBridge make low and no-cost media their life.
They
had seen how great media can make all the difference to a good cause when it communicates a vision, raises awareness, and gathers
support. They now make the power of consumer advertising available to humanitarian, education and environmental projects, without profit motives getting in the way.
With generous donations of time and talent from media professionals around the world, this team is versatile and powerful yet travels light and keeps overheads low.
Staying afloat... In
March 2001, the
Waring family founded GlobalBridge, sold up and moved aboard the
vintage 36ft heavy wooden cruising ketch "Wayfarer IV".
Armed with laptop and cellphone, their media projects are often
produced from remote locations - for example, creating the Hector's
Dolphin MediaPack while anchored in the dolphin's "home
harbour" of Akaroa, New Zealand - or helping the Wildlife Conservation
Society in Suva protect the rainforests of Fiji.
